La Herradura Car Chase

LHR Patrol Car OnLA young man from La Herradura was arrested after a car chase through the village streets and onto the main road.

The arrested man, a 22-year-old with the initials of I.C.C., had been involved in a disturbance in one of the village’s pubs together with another man.

The pub owner had phoned the Policía Local who sent a patrol, backed up by the Guardia Civil, but by the time that they got there the two troublemakers had already left.

The pub owner, however, was able to provide a description of them both, as well as one for the vehicle in which they had left.

The Policia Local tracked down one of them near his home but received a call from the Guardia to say although they had caught up with the second man, he had made off at high speed in his car.

A pursuit ensued through the streets of the village and onto the N-340. The suspect drove recklessly, using at times the oncoming lane and ignoring stop signs on the main-entrance junction. The municipal police vehicle, now involved in the chase, at one point drove off into a roadside ditch in order to avoid a collision.

Even when the police forced the driver to halt, he violently resisted arrest and did not skimp on insults. He was breathalyzed and found to be over the limit.

The list of offences on his charge sheet that night included resisting arrest, threatening behavior, dangerous driving etc.
