Almuñécar’s riverbeds have been used to jettison stolen mopeds once their more valuable parts have been removed.

The first was found by a municipal-police patrol in Río Seco just up from Playa San Cristóbal. Upon close inspection it was identified as one that had been reported stolen and returned – what was left of it – to its rightful owners.

Two more were found, later the same day, further up the riverbed, despite being partially hidden. Again, they had suffered quite a lot of damage and were returned to their owners in a much sorrier state than when they had last seen them.
