The Barcelona city police have tracked down a driver who hit a pregnant woman on a zebra crossing and then abandoned his car and made off on foot.

The incident came to light at the beginning of the month when the municipal police found a 6-month-pregant woman lying on a zebra crossing in obvious distress.

They rushed the woman to hospital were her condition and that of the fetus are not said to be serious.

The driver of the car that hit her, who didn’t have a valid driving licence, immediately parked the car, left the keys in the ignition and leaving the doors wide open, ran off together with his young son who had been a passenger at the moment of the accident.

Thanks to the car docs, the police soon tracked him down.

It’s not clear exactly how the accident happened, but fleeing the scene of a road accident and not providing assistance does not look good for the driver, obviously.
