The very popular III Festival del Mar included a seabed clean-up by volunteer divers an the Peña Parda end of the beach.

Lost fishing tackle, old metal tubes & bars and omnipresent plastic bags were hunted down and brought, gasping, to the surface by the divers.

All this was possible thanks to the Amigos del Mar Costa Tropical and the collaboration of the Asociación Universitaria de Actividades Subacuáticas at the Universidad de Málaga.

After the operation was concluded, everybody went to Plaza de la Independencia for a plate or two of paella – and when we say ‘everybody,’ we mean nearly two hundred people.
