This summer there has been an important rise in the number of visitors, compared with recent years, says the Vice Mayor, Alicia Crespo.
Sra. Crespo, who also holds the position as Head of the Tourism Department, pointed out that there is a growing number of French citizens that have made Motril their summer-holiday destination, amongst the Spanish tourists from Madrid, Cataluña, the Basquelands and Castilla-Leon.
“Nearly 63% of visitors are Spanish and just over 37% are foreigners; this is the fourth year running that the number of foreign visitors has grown,” she explained. She considered this positive as the coast has always over relied upon national tourism.
