Salobreña vs. Jellyfish

SAL Beach Volunteers OnLThe final score in this showdown was 2,316 points for the jellyfish, as that is the amount of stings that the first-aid teams treated during the summer season.

Yes, the 13 volunteers that manned the town’s beaches have now stood down as the summer season has finished and their only beach activity has been the packing up of their equipment. Now for a well earned rest!

Now, their arch enemies, the sneaky jellyfish, have not been as active as previous years because the sting count last year was around 2,000 a month!

Of course, their tasks have included other things such as treating cuts and sprains, as well as transporting 56 people to the local medical centre.

The lifeguards have also splashed out toward Morocco to rescue a total of four bathers in difficulties.

Life would have been much easier for these volunteers, however, if bathers had paid at least some attention to the warning flags.

Enhorabuena, Chicos!
