Car Thief Apprehended

The Policía Nacional in Motril arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly breaking into four cars in the early hours of one morning at the beginning of June. The targeted cars were parked on central street in Motril.

The suspect, who has an extensive criminal record, had reportedly shattered the side windows of the parked vehicles in order to remove any contents of value within sight.

Neighbours, alerted by the sound of breaking glass, alerted the police on the 091 police, emergency number. A police car was dispatched and the officers caught the man ‘in the act;’ or better said, with a hammer in his hand standing next to a shattered window.

He also had on him items belonging to the targeted cars, which was confirmed by the car owners the next day.

The judicial police department managed to link a total of 40 car break-ins to the suspect and he has been charged for all of them
