Almuñécar Castle Bus

ALM Castillo Bus Service OnLLocals up in the Almuñécar old town of Barrio de San Migue/El Castillo now have a regular minibus service.

Yes, by sheer coincidence, precisely one day before the end of the local elections campaign, this public-transport service came into being!

Anyway, irony aside, local transport company, Grupo Fajardo will provide the bus-route service with an 18-seater minibus, which also has room for 20 standing. Furthermore, the vehicle has a hydraulic ramp for wheelchair access.

“This route will be denominated Line Six within the municipal, urban-transport system and the bus will bear the destination board, Castillo,” Explained Luis Aragón, adding that the service will be completely free for the first two months of its life.

It is the only bus route that stops at the Almuñécar Centro de Salud, by the way.

Parts of the old town had to be knocked around a bit to ‘adapt it’ to such a long vehicle – nothing that a spot of monkey spit and packing tape couldn’t sort out, mind!

The Route for Line Six is: Avenida Costa del Sol, La Carrera, Centro de Salud, Plaza Madrid, Paseo Altillo, Plaza San Cristóbal, Calle Bikini, Calle Geranio-El Majuelo, Cuesta del Castillo, Calle Bikini, Calle Guadix, Avenida Costa del Sol, La Carrera and Centro de Salud, which should take about 30 minutes.

Congratulations on the San Miguel Space Shuttle, Ladies and Gentlemen!
