Residents of Las Palomas and Cármenes del Mar in La Herradura will soon have better N-340 access, as the Town Hall has received permission to go ahead with improvement works.

Leaving aside the timing of this announcement, the planned junction will make obsolete the necessity of going twice round the known world in order to enter the existing junction legally when approaching in the Málaga-bound lane.

Once the project terms are put out for bidding and the winning bid approved, work can start.

Strangely enough, the 15.780-euro budget is coming from the water-board entity, La Mancomunidad from funds raised via a special tax (canon) included in domestic water bills.

The project design is based on an addition of a central lane from, which traffic can incorporate or leave the west-bound traffic. Such a set up already exists, for example coming up from the La Herradura traffic lights, opposite the Agrosur garden centre.
