Gaz Reader: Salobreña Beach

Dear Sir

I am writing to let you know that my wife and I were in Salobreña over the May-Day weekend. The weather was lovely and the beach was very busy. Surprising then that all of the beach facilities were closed. The toilets were locked and there was no water supply to the shower stands.

We observed dozens of people trying to get into the toilets and then asking the chiringuito owners if they could use their facilities, often being refused as they weren’t customers.

Has the town hall delayed the opening of these facilities to save money? I wonder if they considered the effect of hundreds of people finding an alternative place to relieve themselves. The obvious choice being the Mediterranean Sea!

Yours faithfully
Peter Wilkins
