A Dutch tourist in Nerja lost his sports bag with nearly 6,000 euros inside, but was fortunate enough that an honest man found it and handed it into the police.
The British resident found the bag near the Supersol supermarket, next to the sports complex and decided to turn it over to a municipal-police patrol carrying out a routine vehicle check on the Capistrano roundabout.
The man explained that he had come across the sports bag and that it contained a large amount of cash, as well as personal items such two, mobile phones and a camera.
Once back at the station, the police started phoning the contacts on the mobiles and soon found the identity of the bag’s owner; a Dutch tourist.
Once informed, the owner soon turned up to claim his possession and thank both the police and the person that handed the bag in.
