Around 21.30h last night (7th) in Almuñécar a car crashed into a palm tree along the Paseo Prieto Moreno and caught alight.
It appears that there were two youngsters in the vehicle on this narrow, one-way road between the Paseo del Altillo and the Peñon del Santo (cross on the rock). Being youngsters and made of rubber, they were both uninjured. The car, on the other hand, is another matter.
Alarmed locals called the emergency number and the fire service soon arrived and extinguished the sorry chariot.
There appears to be at least a couple of ‘versions’ over what happened and one of the most surprising ones is that it was ‘deliberate,’ in order to record a short film. The fact is, there is already a video online, which features a young couple arguing over the speed and in the next sequence the car is in flames.
Anyway, the news will no doubt ‘come out in the wash.’
Update: A source close to the occupants of the vehicle indicated that the accident was allegedly due to a combination of speed, rain and candle wax, left over from Semana Santa.
