The official population of Almuñécar now stands at 27,317 inhabitants, as of the 1st of January, according to Instituto Nacional de Estatísticas.

That’s 14,708 males and 14,866 females and a couple of ‘I’m not quite sure.’

This means that despite herds of youngster moving abroad due to lack of job prospects, the population continues to grow: 1,253 new residents arrived whilst 1,085 left, leaving an increase of just under 200… where will we fit them all!

There were 186 births and 194 deaths. Apart from that, 759 people moved here, 301 of whom were foreigners. On the other hand, 828 packed their bags, 32 of whom were foreigners.
