Not much more has come to light over Saturday afternoon’s shootout, other than the claim made by a Romanian resident of Roquetas del Mar.

The Guardia Civil don’t have a lot to go on, other than a handful of spent bullet casings, which in itself confirms that shots were fired in the vicinity of the Marina del Este.

The actually exchange of shots appears to have taken place in the Urbanización Los Abencerrajes, which is probably the area of the highest priced properties behind the port; amongst the highest prices on the whole of the Andalusian coast, in fact.

One of the eyewitnesses – the man from Almería – approached the Guardia Civil to claim that he was a victim, claiming that some individuals had stolen his Mercedes, which triggered off the whole confrontation.

The Guardia Civil, on the other hand, don’t appear to be too swayed by this information and continue with their investigation and to date nobody has been arrested.
