A man decided to burgle a bar in Motril; the fact that he worked there and it belonged to his mother did not appear to deter him.

The 39-year-old man, rather than locking up and handing the keys to his mother, deviously left a window opon, the security bars unsecured and the alarm deactivated. Having taken these steps, he turned off the lights and locked the door and left.

He was soon back, climbed through the window, took a chisel to the gambling machine, pocketed the 500 euros inside it, left via the window, but not before activating the alarm.

He obviously hadn’t thought it through very thoroughly because the Guardia Civil immediately found it highly suspicious that the window had been left open, bars unsecured and alarm off, etc, by the last man out – the son.

After determined questioning by the police he confessed to the crime.
