The Motril Councillor for Citizen Safety, Manuel Ballesteros has announced that a 21-year-old was arrested on Calle Lisboa, Motril for his part in an attack on a driver.

The attack, which took place in the Vista Alegre area of town, (just across the main road from Al Campo) was discovered by a police unit out on a routine patrol in the area. The patrol car came across two men in hoods hitting a man in a parked car with a stick through the driver’s window.

Upon seeing the approaching police car, the two suspects ran off with police in pursuit. They found one of them crouching behind a parked car and immediately arrested him.

In the meantime, another patrol car, summoned by the first, attended the victim of the attack, who was taken to the Emergency Department of the area hospital, Santa Ana, to be patched up, before accompanying the policemen to the station to make a statement.

The circumstances that lead to the attack have not been made public.
