The incident took place at three in the morning on Calle Carretera de la Playa (that’s the one that starts on the Unicaja roundabout). The heated argument ended with the 26-year-old victim receiving three stab wounds from a kitchen knife.
After the incident the alleged attacker took refuge at home whilst the victim was taken into a nearby house. When the Guardia Civil arrived, there was nobody at the scene of the incident.
However, following a trail of blood left by the victim they located him, laying on a sofa bleeding profusely. One of the policeman immediately applied a tourniquet to his leg wound whilst an ambulance was summoned.
Hospital Santa Ana described his state as “serious” after being operated on almost immediately.
Although the police questioned the victim about the identity of his attacker, he would not give a name. Despite the victim’s reticence they were subsequently able to identify the alleged attacker as a well-known local delinquent, with a charge sheet that included knife offenses.
When the police went to the suspect’s home, the man refused to come out so that the police had to obtain a search warrant. When they returned to carry out a search they found what could be the weapon and a blood-soaked T-Shirt. He was immediately arrested but not without resistance..
The item of clothing was sent to a laboratory for blood sample tests.
