La Herradura’s Las Palomas N-340 Junction

LHR las palomas OnLThe Ministry of Public Works has given the Almuñécar Town Hall the green light to improve the Las Palomas N-340 Entrance.

Once finished it will look like the access set up above the gasoline station (Agrosur plant nursery); i.e., you will have a centre lane with bleed in lanes of around 80 metres in length.

The Ministry doesn’t have the funds available to build the new project, so the Town Hall is going to assume the costs and carry out the work themselves.

No start nor completion date has been given.

At the moment, westbound traffic on the N-340 has to take the old N-340 up past the Mirador del Cerro Gordo and return through the tunnel, in order to enter Las Palomas from the N-340 legally – you can’t cut straight across as there is a continuous white line.

A similar problem exists for those accessing the N-340 if they want to head towards Málaga – first they have to drive in the opposite direction and turn around in front of El Gallinero Restaurant.
