The two occupants were killed when a helicopter loaded with hashish crashed into a pylon whilst attempting to evade the Guardia Civil. The accident occurred within the municipality of Gaucín, Málaga.
The drug-runners’ helicopter was painted completely black to avoid detection on their regular night flights, but on this occasion it was picked up in the early hours of Tuesday morning on radar and the Guardia Civil set out to intercept it.
But they couldn’t find it, so they returned to the area of the radar sighting with the exact coordinates, which was when they came across the crash site.
The police recovered the badly damaged corpses and the drug load, between 800 kg and 1,000 kg, which was spread over a large area.
