New Fountain for Almuñécar

ALM Plaza Madrid Fountain OnLIf you have walked past the Plaza de Madrid in Almuñécar you’ll have noticed the Fisherman’s Statue has disappeared behind a construction-site fence.

Yes, the Town Hall has decided to change the layout of this little square and work has already begun on removing the raised garden areas to make way for a fountain. This work is being carried out at the same time as the work on the road running below the Fisherman’s Statue Square.

It’s not clear whether the fountain will replace the statue or compliment it, but one thing is for sure, a lot of space on the square, a habitual meeting place for teenagers and dog walkers, will be taken up by the fountain.

Editorial Comment: Where has the Town Hall found the money all of a sudden? Of course, the municipal elections are only four months away!
