Jete Has Sewage System Overhaul

ALM Jete sewage work OnLA total of 70,000 euros is being spent on overhauling Jete’s sewage system, both in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and under the main-road.

The project, which is funded by the Mancomunidad de la Costa Tropical (as is the case in Almuñécar), is envisaged to take about a month. That’s the official duration, but for a more likely estimate, multiply their figure by your shoe size and divide it by the first number that comes into your head… Just joking!

In fact the project will completely update the sewage, rain drains and water mains system, which is good news, obviously

Editorial comment: When I used to give classes there back in the 90’s, I seem to remember that the Jete sewage system emptied into the river, which is dry most of the year, so you imagine the smell at the height of summer.

As the Mancomunidad is presently urging the Junta to carry out the necesssary work to connect Otívar, Lentegí and Jete to the Almuñécar sewage-treatment plant, this means that after all the new modernizing work, it will still empty into the river, I guess.
