The Commanding Officer of the Guardia Civil for the province of Granada until 2006 is being investigated in connection with drug trafficking.
His name cropped up during an anti-drugs police operation in November and one of the hypothesis under investigation was that he was allegedly the over-all controller of what drugs came into the province, where and when.
The suspect, who is now stationed in the corps’ headquarters in Madrid, is in the process of being promoted to the rank of General.
In November last year, police-operation Golia moved in on a drugs ring in the early hours of the 15th. The said drug ring was known to have been operating for at least a decade. Just in the province alone 16 people were arrested, aged between 23 and 53.
Several of the arrested gave the suspect’s name, claiming that they had paid him over 300,000 euros for his “services.”
