The Australian Ambassador to Spain was recalled after her husband was charged with the alleged sexual abuse of a minor. The incident was reported to have taken place within the embassy in Madrid itself.
The accused, 71-year-old Vytas Bronius Kapociunas, strongly denies allegations that he sexually abused the young girl.
Mr Kapociunas is actually accused of three counts of sexual intercourse with a child outside of Australia.
Now former Ambassador Jane Hardy, is already back in Australia, returning two months after his arrest last year.
The Australian Federal Police opened an investigation after having received a complaint from the girl’s mother.
Mr Kapociunas allegedly acknowledged before the police that he had had physical contact with the girl that included piggy-back rides and blowing raspberries on her belly button.
But he denied abusing the girl.
