Accusations and Counter Accusations

ALM Aquarium OnLThe ex-Mayor’s party accused the present Mayor’s party of being indirectly responsible for the death of over 500 fishes in the municipal aquarium.

The company that is in charge of the aquarium, Dzoos S.L., says that this is a lie and that there are more fish than there were when they took it over.

So, where did the CA/PA get there accusation from? Apparently from a disgruntled ex-worker, Ana Ortiz, at the aquarium who claimed that within the period of 18 months 74% of the fishes had perished.

Dzoos S.L. denies the number of dead fish and say that to date there are 510 specimens in the Acuario, which is superior to the number that they ‘inherited’ when they took over the running of the facilities in December 2012.

“The total number of deaths during 2013 and 2014 has been 71; i.e., an average of 35 a year. This figure represents, they say, 7% of the fish population and not 74%.

Ana Ortiz claimed that there were now no seahorses left in the aquarium, whereas Dzoos S.L. say that there were three and one has died, the remaining two are in quarantine. The Acuario has not obtained more because it is illegal to capture and keep them.

Editorial Comment: Sometimes one can despair at the antics of politicians.

They find money for all kinds of projects just prior to elections, even though they cry poverty during their legislature, and every party starts launching accusations and counter accusation just before the elections… but they just don’t get it that the ball game has changed – nobody trusts them anymore.

Spain’s political class is locked into a 20th Century mindset and think that it is business as usual. They think that they can stick up posters and fill the media with the same antics as always and voters will flock. But it’s all changed.

Nobody gives a damn anymore and most presuppose that they’re all on the take.

They smirk when they’re caught out practicing blatant hypocrisy, indignantly accusing each other of what they have recently done themselves.

The question is, are they going to wake up and smell the beans before Democracy dies out?
