The Junta de Andalucia has just made public its 2015 budget, which includes 1.7m euros for the new Motril bus station. Elections, anybody?

The Mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, has expressed her thanks to the Junta, but, being of a different political colour to the Junta, she pointed out it wasn’t the first time that the Regional Government had announced the beginning of construction work for it only to be put on hold owing to a lack of funds.

The Town Hall has already carried out its commitment, which was the ceding of publicly owned land for the new bus station and the ‘urbanizing’ of the area (access infrastructure etc.)

The Mayor also pointed out that last October the Town Hall had signed a leasing contract with Nex Continental Holdings to run the bus station. Included in the agreement was the laying of tarmac on the old station’s forecourt.
