Just before 22.00h on Friday, firefighters managed to extinguish a small fire in Motril at the old almond factory. This now defunct business premises is located near the Hospital de Santa Ana.

The cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown. With such a small incident, it is unlikely we will see a large investigation to establish the cause, so it will just have to remain one of Motril’s big mysteries…

This old warehouse is no stranger to fire damage, as back in 2006 is was completely gutted by fire and all the nuts (dried fruit kind… not Gazette workers) were destroyed. Believe me, there’s nothing worse than a fire amongst your nuts.

What was the name of the place when it was open readers?  Maltica? Malfica?  I can’t remember… so answers on a postcard please.
