La Herradura Blues Festival

Herradura blues festivalThe La Herradura blues festival at the castle went down well, with many spectators turning up from the Province of Málaga.

The festival kicked off on Friday with the Granada acts Fernando Beistegui and the blues group, Lito Blues Band.

The next day saw a performance by the American blues musician, Richard Ray Farrell (Niagara Falls, Nueva York en 1956) who gave a veteran performance, presenting numbers from his new works.

Also performing and closing the festival were the group from Caceres called Guitar Not So Slim, whose name is inspired by the 50’s blues guitarist, Guitar Slim.

The reason that there was a good following from across the provincial border was that the festival was organised by Carmen López and Javier Martín; the latter being the Chairman of the Asociación de Blues de Málaga.

But it wasn’t just about the music as there were parallel activities such as a drawings exhibition on Jazz & Blues belonging to the Málaga caricaturist, Idígoras, who also designed the event’s poster, by the way, in homage to Johnny Winter.
