Almuñécar said goodbye to German Mickey, who was found dead in his bar, formerly called Bar Sin Nombre, at the end of last month. He was buried on Wednesday the 6th.

Contrary to popular rumours, his death was caused by a heart attack, and not as many speculated by an overdose or having committed suicide.

Mickey, son of Margot and Franz, who ran a restaurant under that name on the old Paseo del Altillo, was brought up here as a child in the 70’s but had recently spent some time back in Germany.

A tragic end to a man whose family was no stranger to tragedy, having lost two sisters and his father. Margot, although very elderly now, still lives in Almuñécar – we send her our heartfelt condolences from the Gazette and raise a glass to Mickey.
