Motril Port Gives Business Advice

MOT-port-ferryThe Port Authorities have decided that somebody is missing out on a great idea: opening up a shop specializing in honey, in the port.

They say that honey would sell like rock cakes in the port because Melilla passengers love the stuff. Over in Morocco, they say, it costs them 25 euros a kilo whilst here it goes for about six euros a kilo.

And our region has great honey products, especially from the Alpujarra.

So, the Chairman of the Port Authorities, Francisco Álvarez de la Chica, says that they will give free business advice and help a business get on its feet if they set up in the port.

They will give advice on when the passenger peaks are and what sort of products the passengers are looking for.

The Port Authorities are already working on a project entitled, Amigos de los Cruceros in collaboration with the Motril business sector.

Just to give you an idea about how many people use Motril as the stepping stone to Melilla; since the 15th of June there have been 102,683 passengers using the ferry link – that’s 83% up on last year.
