The Policía Nacional arrested a German gentleman with a pruning saw with which he had allegedly threatened passersby.

The 53-year-old man, who reportedly has a criminal record, was located in Plaza Nueva as he hacked at a park bench, much to the consternation of other park users.

The police had decided to investigate after receiving several calls in the early hours of Monday the 4th about an aggressive foreigner in the Calle Elvira area.

Once located, the police gingerly disarmed him and then vigorously arrested him.
