The leader of the socialist opposition party in Motril is calling on the Mayor to “give drivers a break,” over blue-zone, parking times.
The Motril, PSOE leader, Flor Almón, says that she is concerned over the increase in the blue-zone, parking areas and the disappearance of normal parking areas in general. She considers that these two factors have both contributed to a “feeling of irritation” within the business sector and a drop in local commerce.
She considers that the ever-growing blue zones is turning visitors away – a view shared by locals of both Almuñécar and Salobreña, by the way.
Taking all this into account, she suggests that blue-zones should only run in the mornings and thus give “drivers a break.” She suggests this because, she claims, many locals cannot understand why blue zoning has extended to areas far removed from the centre of town and the operating hours extend past when banks and other offices have closed their doors for the day.
She concluded by deducing that the proliferation of blue-zoning in the town only obeys a drive to “raise income” for the town coffers.
“The Town Hall’s income is obtained at the expense of the citizens’ pockets, and this money is not being injected back to improve municipal services,” she sentenced.
