A man was arrested for allegedly stealing petrol from 86 cars in order to visit his girlfriend.
This young man of 25 from Órgiva was arrested on suspicion of carrying out the thefts in a number of villages in the area to cover the fuel necessities of visiting his girlfriend in the city of Granada.
All the ‘transfers’ were carried out in the early hours of the morning from cars parked on the streets; never in garages. His tools were a serrated hunting knife and two petrol containers of 25 litres each.
He apparently perforated the tank and then placed the containers below to catch the fuel. If he couldn’t get his ‘fuel needs’ from one car then he would target another nearby.
Who has that much gasoline in their tanks nowadays, when 20 euros only gets you 13.5 litres of Eurosuper 95? Hell, in Huétor Santillán he had to target nine cars in one night to get his ‘love litres!’
The moral of the story is… find a girlfriend closer to home or one whose father owns a gasoline station. Besides that, God knows how much it cost the victims to repair their tanks!
