The Guardia Civil have arrested four youngsters, two of whom are minors, as the suspected muggers behind three incidents in Salobreña.
One of the four used a gorilla mask, both to hide his identity and to intimidate the victims. The other two took advantage of the victim’s consternation to snatch their handbags. The fourth member allegedly took care of selling the stolen goods on.
The said victims, one Spaniard and two North Americans, were tourists aged between 55 and 59 years of age. The victims were targeted up near the castle. The last two attacks occurred on the 7th and 12th of this month, whilst the third took place back in April.
The Guardia Civil first managed to identify one and arrest him, and the other gang members quickly followed. The police were able to recuperate the American (USA) woman’s handbag. They also came across the gorilla mask used on the assault against the Canadian woman.
