A thief broke into five wooden cabins on a golfing complex in the province of Granada and stole an aircon unit… but he did leave an apologetic note.
The thief gained access to the golf course by jumping over a perimeter fence and forced open one cabin after the other until he at last found something worth carting off – the aircon unit. Perhaps aware of just how much damage he had caused to the property, he decided to leave a written apology:
“Sorry for the bother caused by the robbery,” which was jolly decent of him, and concluded, ” … but this is just a safety valve within a life without much sense.”
On that metaphysical note, he headed off with the aircon unit – just the ticket for the coming summer, but one can only hope that he has somewhere to plug it in.
Perhaps the note was more of a plan-B if caught; a sort of attenuating ‘get-out-of-jail-early’ consideration in his favour. Oh, look, he has already expressed contrition, bless his cotton socks.
Well, neither his philosophical pondering nor his good manners swayed the golf-course owners away from reporting the blighter to the Guardia Civil, probably because it is not the first break-in that they have suffered lately.
Oh, by the way, not one orthographic error in his handwritten note… obviously doesn’t work for the Gazette!
