Such was the reign of terror that two Spanish Legion NCO’s wrought in 2008 at the Viator base in Almería that they are now serving three years apiece in military prison.

Corporals Alejandro I.F. and David L.B. “went beyond military discipline” by terrorizing 20 recruits, according to the Tribunal Superior that had rejected their appeal, at the legionary camp. The NCO’s superiors had already already told them that whilst instructors should impose exacting training, it should be done with respect, as stipulated in military manuals.

It appears that the corporals had kicked the recruits in the ribs whilst they attempted to carry out press ups, amongst other “vexations,” and had insulted them, informing them that, “You’re all shits, trash, worthless, whores’ sons, bastards and poofs.”

Ah well, takes me back 40 years when dear Drill Instructor, Corporal Richards, had a similar opinion of our efforts on a parade ground…
