Charity of the Year 2014

The Costa Animal Society has been awarded a trophy by Nerja Town Hall as the Charity of the Year 2014.

This has been achieved by members who have given up their spare time to raise funds to finance the upkeep of abandoned animals. It is in recognition of the hard work done by all the unpaid volunteers who work on
the markets, car boots, organisers of events and animal fosterers. And by the input of people behind the scenes, members and patrons who all give support and ensure that the work is able to be continue.

C.A.S. in common with all of the other charities is inundated with abandoned animals and is struggling financially and  sometimes reluctantly has to decline to help because of numbers that are already in care.

Whilst all the animal charities do work together to cope and to try to ease the problem of abandoned animals, they are all in need of volunteers, articles to sell, donations etc and  by people just attending or participating in functions and events thus helping  to raise much needed funds.

Every animal helped has to be examined by a vet and innoculated before being taken into care and then supported until a new home can be found and this where most of the money raised is used.
