Meningitis-Related Death in Motril

MOT Santa AnaWhat appears to have been a one-off infection, involving a 17-year-old Girl from Motril, brought tragic results.

Cristina, who was studying at the Francisco Javier de Burgos secondary school, died last Saturday, the 8th. Family and friends, as can be imagined, were devastated.

The Chairman for the parents association at the school, Plácido Garcia, praised Cristina for her congenial personality and efforts in the classroom, and expressed their condolences to her family.

“We have been in contact with the health authorities and are able to assure that this was an isolated case and there have been no further cases, as some rumours claimed.”

“Therefore,” he added, “parents can rest assured that there is no more risk here than in any other part of Spain. Friends in contact with Cristina have received the necessary preventative treatment.”
