Gymnast Dies from Meningitis

The Spanish sporting world was thrown into commotion when the news that the 17-year-old gymnast, María Herranz had died from meningitis on Thursday.

A baby girl, a little under 1-year old, died in Hospital Santa Ana last Wednesday from Meningococcal Sepsis.

A 4-year-old from Víznar, died in mid-March of pneumococcal meningitis at the Hospital Materno Infantil, a day after being hospitalised.

What appears to have been a one-off infection, involving a 17-year-old Girl from Motril, brought tragic results.
