iPads, Blackmail and Nervous Breakdowns

A 30-year-old man from Las Gabias either lost or had stolen, his precious iPad, together with his identity documents.

The next day, however, he received a phone call to tell him that if he wanted his possessions back, it would cost him 200 euros. He immediately informed the Guardia Civil.

The police then staked out Calle López de Vega, where the hand over was to be carried out.

Just as the exchange was taking place, between the victim and three young men, out popped the Guardia Civil.

The police arrested two of them but the third went completely wobbly and into the throes of a nervous breakdown. He was driven to hospital where he stayed two days, before being released… then arrested and charged.
