The items on show go back over the 30 years and are part of a homage to the Guardia Civil presence in the fortification as a police station between the 1940’s and 1970’s.
Amongst other exhibits are the tricornio (emblematic 3-cornered hats) worn by the Guardia Civil, capes and other parts of uniforms. All of the said items have been donated by the Dirección General de la Guardia Civil.
Lieutenant Colonel José Santiago Martín, thanks the Mayor of Motril and the First Councillor for Carchuna for mounting the exhibition, which coincides with the 170th anniversary of the founding of the Corps.
The fort itself completed its restoration work in April and has since been used for cultural events.
