Clearing up after The Gales

LHR Clean up OnLThe Almuñécar Town Hall sent the maintenance crews out to clear up the beaches of La Herradura and Almuñécar after the gales earlier in December.

Gales driving heavy rains swept down from the North West of the Country, right down to the South East and the Costa Tropical was not spared.

Over 20 workers laboured over clearing the debris from the beaches, most of which was bamboo cane and farming waste, which had made its way into the sea and then pushed up onto the beaches by the strong waves, explained the Councillor for Beaches, Luis Aragón.

He went on to explain that thanks to the riverbeds having been cleared of vegetation during late Summer, there was no clogging at the river mouths. Even so, he called on farmers to dispose of branch cuttings correctly and not dump them in the river.
