The Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue team, Sereim, using a helicopter, rescued a 54-year old Swedish woman on Peña Escrita, Almuñécar.
The team searched in the dark and mist for the woman, from 20.00h on Tuesday night until 06.00h the next morning, but it was not until 08.00h, with daylight, that they could get a helicopter in to bring her out..
It appears that she became separated from a group of friends, becoming disorientated as the daylight faded. She was adequately clothed, but lacking a torch – it’s always a good idea to take one even if you’re planning to be home well before dark.
She was not injured nor worse for wear from the unforeseen night out in the mountains at this time of year.
A happy ending, indeed.
