The First Councillor for Carchuna-Calahonda, Concepción Abarca, explained before a press call the work that will be carried out on the seafront promenade.
Now, the work will be financed through the Plan del Empleo de Fomento Agrario, which doesn’t have much to do with agriculture, but it is a ‘ploy’ being used by many town councils, of all political colours.
Obviously, local farmers in these cases are not happy bunnies, but at least unemployed locals are getting a spot of employment, so let’s not quibble.
The budget for this work on the Paseo Marítimo amounts to 105,206 and is destined for “improving the look” of the promenade for the enjoyment of “both locals and visitors.”
The damage, for example, caused by boisterous tree roots will be put right, and the watering system for the plant beds updated.
It is worth pointing out that the promenade hasn’t received an overhaul in the 30 years that it has been gracing the town, until March when the 14 deteriorated stone benches were replaced.
All this other planned work, to be carried out by 50 workers, will commence at the beginning of next year and should be ready for Easter
