The Mayor of Motril has expressed her concern that the fire that broke out a few days ago might have been intentional. The Motril fire service says that they have reasons to believe this hypothesis.

Readers will remember that Motril suffered a similar fire at the beginning of November along the Ronda Sur road, which links the Al Campo roundabout to the Port Road, which is why this second fire has the authorities wondering if a pyromaniac is at large.

Mayor Luisa García Chamorro thanked  both the fire unit at the Spanish Royal Air Force base for tackling the fire where it reached the base’s perimeter and the Comunidad de Regantes for opening up the irrigation channels along Cota 100 so that the fire wagons could top up.
