As its name suggests, this is the second time that this event will be held and will cover La Herradura, Almuñécar, Otívar, Lentejí and Guájar Alto. Only 10% of the 180-km route will be on road; the rest will be on tracks. The duration is calculated at around eight hours.
The first day (Friday) is a chance to get to know other riders and the organizers in a sort of briefing on the next day’s route, on which GPS will be used extensively. There is also an evening meal.
The next day begins at 08.00h in Almuñécar with breakfast and then an 09.00h start; riders will set off in groups of a maximum of four. The route will take them through several little-known coastal areas. Lunch is at 14.00h and dinner at 21.00h when the ride is over.
Sunday is the farewell event including a ‘convivial breakfast for all the participants.
So, how much? Hang on to your breeches because the cheap version is 50 euros, which includes support vehicles and the grub on Saturday. Those that want to stay in a hotel in Almuñécar Friday and Saturday night, moving out on Sunday, full board, are looking at 150 euros.
Riders from all over the province as well as further out will be taking part – hence the Almuñécar accommodation offer.
