Small La Herradura Fire

About 3,000 sq/m of hillside, some of it an avocado plantation, was destroyed by a blaze, lasting just over two hours before being brought under control. Air/foot units from Infoca and fire wagons from the Almuñécar Fire Service dealt with the incident

The fire was right above the junction about 500 metres down from the Cotobro tunnel which allows drivers to turn around. Fire engines (trucks) had no trouble accessing the area as the plantation has its access gate right on the junction.

Thanks to the intervention of a Infoca aeroplane and helicopter, which bombarded the area with water, the fire did not spread further.

Meanwhile, over in Almuñécar, the popular restaurant, Casa Paco was gutted by a fire that broke out around four in the morning – more on this in a separate article.
