One of Almuñécar’s best known restaurants, Casa Paco, which is situated on Playa Velilla, was badly damaged by fire. Around half of the interior was destroyed.

“The fire mainly affected the dining area and bordering areas. It started between 04.30 and 04.45h on the morning of Wednesday the 9th but with the arrival of the fire services and police it was put out by 06.00h,” reads the police incident report.

The cause of the fire is still not know but it is being investigated by the Guardia Civil.

The Mayor, Trinidad Herrera, and Councillors Luis Aragon and María del Mar Medina, visited the premises that same morning to express their support for this veteran local businessman.
