A Miracle!

A gas-installations company, based in Málaga, will give 300 euros back to a Nerja resident after he complained to the Consumers’ Rights Office (Oficina Municipal de Atención al Consumido). The company had originally charged 362 euros. The incident occurred in Nerja in April of this year.

It was the same old story; “You need to change this rubber hose,” whose service life, in effect and in this case, had expired at the end of 2012. Besides changing the rubber hose, they also did some other unnecessary work, according to the homeowner, after which they presented a bill for the 362 euros.

In his written complaint before the OMAC, he said that he felt “cheated and swindled by the people who turned up at my house.”

The OMAC got in contact with the gas-installations company and have just received their reply which  contained an apology to the homeowner, saying that the manner in which the workers had acted in his house was not the normal company practice. The company also added that the gas fitter would call at his house to return 300 euros.

The Consumers’ Rights Office pointed out that the reaction from this company is not the habitual outcome because when the said office writes to a gas-installations company via the address given on the bill, it normally gets sent back as the address is not correct.
