The municipal police in Huétor Vega (Poniente de Granada) have managed to identify a suspect for the stabbing of a dachshund, commonly known as a sausage dog. The man will be charged with animal cruelty.
The dog had strayed from home one Sunday. Around 17.00h that same day the owner received a phone call from the municipal police to say that the dog had been found, seriously injured, with a carving knife sticking out of its back, just before his hind quarters. Consequently, the owner of the animal reported the attack to the Guardia Civil.
The dog, in the meantime, had been taken straight to the local vet who operated on him to remove the knife.
The dog had been located outside a restaurant and the suspect, who has been formally accused but not taken into custody, works at this restaurant.
