Strongs winds from the West convinced the organizers of the La Herradura Bay clean-up operation to stage it in the lee of Marina del Este.
But regardless of choppy waters, the seabed clean up, entitled the III Campaña de Limpieza, went ahead, with over 100 divers and other volunteers taking part.
The operation was a joint effort between the Asociación Universitaria de Actividades Subacuáticas (AUAS) from Málaga University, the La Herradura branch of the Town Hall and local dive clubs from Herradura and Almuñécar.
As diver volunteers had a good scour of the seabed last year, their efforts this year were rewarded with lost fishing nets and material – they even found somebody’s fishing rod… the one that got away, no doubt.
